What is the purpose of the job?

The main purpose is to follow and influence the global coordination of TotalEnergies Corbion's public and regulatory affairs strategy aimed at achieving support by regulators and value chain partners for TotalEnergies Corbion's bioplastics product offering. Plastics are a key focus in many legislative dossiers and bioplastics can offer environmental benefits in the transition to a more circular and sustainable economy. The role is a global role with a key focus on the European Union and a few key growth areas in Asia, including for example China and Taiwan.

 

What is your specific duty?

Translating the purpose results in the following specific job activities:

  • Designing a global public affairs strategy and coordinating engagement with different national and regional public authorities.
  • Ensuring TotalEnergies Corbion has an effective network of political, regulatory and stakeholder contacts.
  • Identifying and managing strategic public affairs partnerships, including active membership of relevant trade associations and value chain initiatives.
  • Represent TotalEnergies Corbion at relevant trade associations and drive favorable legislation for bioplastics.
  • Aligning and leveraging public affairs activities in collaboration with our two parent companies, Corbion and TotalEnergies.
  • Monitor regulatory proposals and assess the impact on our business. Be a key focal point in the organization to explain the risks and opportunities of newly adopted regulations for (bio)plastics.
  • Aligning activities in the field of corporate and product communication with communications manager; provide input and guidance for the technical sustainability manager.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior management on public affairs issues.
  • Identify and instruct public affairs advisors where and when needed.

 

What does your background and skillset look like?

It’s useful if you recognize yourself in the below profile.

 

  • Experience:
  • University degree (or equivalent). Master’s degree - an advantage.
  • At least 6-8 years of experience in public affairs, regulatory affairs and/or policies in the EU, experience in the US and/or China- an advantage.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Good understanding of the crucial issues related to plastics, plastics packaging, plastic recycling and preferably knowledge of circular and sustainable value propositions.
  • Experienced in creating effective relationships with key stakeholders, government officials and other relevant value chain partners in the field of plastics.
  • Strong communication skills; fluent in English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thrives on a challenging and challenging environment.
  • Excellent diplomacy, interpersonal, and communication skills, and a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to effectively network and function in a complex internal and external ecosystem of colleagues, stakeholders, and influencers.

The position will require trips to other regions, including mainland China. You will be part of our Marketing team and work together with a group of 30 colleagues in our office.
